"Individuals have many reasons for attending a log building class. Some want to build their own home, some want to change careers, some want to augment their income, some want to start a business and some want to simply learn more about the craft of log building. Whatever the reason, the training has been successful. I often ask at the beginning of a class that if a student starts a project that they send a few pictures to help document that success. I focuses on skills and techniques: how-to flatten a sill log exactly correct in order to make the saddle notch on the crossing sill work, how-to align the sills logs perfectly square on the foundation for a good start, how-to set up the wall logs for scribing the "credit card" fit, how-to keep the walls perpendicular as they go up, how-to lay out roof lines, and how-to use the bulls-eye scriber for fabricating detail and design into the structure. My students' success my ultimate objective."
