MONTANA SCHOOL OF LOG BUILDINGTM
Three Forks, Montana

Log builders came form New York, Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Montana, and South Carolina to learn the secretes of handcrafting log homes using the bulls-eye scriber during the May 2004 class.  They learned to align sill logs and found that they could square log sills perfectly by using standard units of measurements.  The method of "standard units" taught by Al Anderson simplifies the process of getting the sill log down.  Simple center lining and point of reference marks put the log home on the right track.  The class continued to learn the scribing techniques and fit the log together with impressive accuracy.  The tight fits on their first logs had some rubbing their eyes in disbelief!  With the full log and split log technique practiced, they had the skills to tackle their own projects. They finished the week setting up string lines for roof systems.  The five day class teaches the skills needed to build a log home and gives support with the Video Course.  The "Video Course" has two advantages 1) pre training students before attending the log class and 2) a reference to refer to after while working on their projects.  (Home Page)
