A Tour of the Mandelbrot Set

Above is the famous Mandelbrot Set, drawn by Fractint. Let's zoom in on a few of the features of this set.


Let's start with the far left side:

Above, we see an inexact copy of the Mandelbrot set itself. In fact, if we were to zoom in further, we would see many copies of the set, each subtly different.


Now let's change the colors (in order to see different details), and explore the large crack a little left of center in my original image of the whole set:

The right side of this crack looks intriguing. Let's zoom in on a few of those features. Again, we begin to see copies of the entire Mandelbrot set:

Let's try to the left of the crack. These features look somewhat different:

Here is the upper right part of the set, using different colors:
