Marion Tinsley played one match involving GAYP, a forty game mixed event with Professor W. R. Fraser. Ten games were played on each of the GAYP, Two-Move, Three-Move, and Eleven Man Ballot styles. (The games may be found in Fraser's Inferno.)

This match took place in Montreal, Canada in the year 1952. Border crossings at that time were taken very seriously with immigration personnel on the lookout for communists and particularly wary of anyone trying to enter the U. S. without proper credentials.

Fraser wrote, "The innocent Marion had a problem in how to re-enter the USA, and only Press clippings from Montreal eventually convinced Immigration officers that his story of a sojourn in Canada to play draughts was not a puerile fabrication from Moscow," (International Draughts and Checkers, page 14.)

Richard Fortman adds, "Marion did not have the usual forms of identification. He didn't drive, so had no driver's license. And he didn't have a social security card either!"
