Intrepid Cosmic Explorer

"E `a`a `ia makou e ho`okele hou, A`ohe halawai ma`o oa aku."
(We are challenged to sail once again, no horizon is too distant.)

BULLET SHANE - PROFESSIONAL

Currently I am a NASA EPSCoR postdoctoral research associate in Physics, a position which is split between Montana State University - Bozeman and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California.

I am a theoretical physicist, focusing on General Relativity (Einstein's theory of gravity) and theoretical astrophysics.

When I'm not working on physics, I spend most of my time building rockets and playing amateur astronomer -- my two primary hobbies. I have other hobbies (writing, model building, woodworking, amateur oceanography), but they have suffered for lack of time while I was in graduate school. :-)

My favorite joke: What's a polar bear? It's a rectangular bear after a coordinate transformation. :-)

Chelle's Picture This is my wife, Michelle, who is a theoretical astrophysicist in the Physics Department at Montana State University - Bozeman.

She earned her Ph. D. in theoretical astrophysics, studying the dynamics and thermal evolution of neutron stars. Her ultimate goal is to have a career in Science Education and Outreach for the Public, an area she is already working in (visit YPOP - the Yohkoh Public Outreach Project).

Beginning this summer, she will be joining the Center for Science Education at the Space Sciences Laboratory at the University of California - Berkeley.

Her favorite joke: Me, I suspect. ;-)
